In Cucarachalandia, visual artist Maria Cristina (Tina) Tavera explores how “La Cucaracha” is a symbol of resilience, resistance and perseverance. For the opening there was a collaboration incorporating literary interpretations by musicians and poets: musician Erick Biard, musician/poet Anaïs Deal-Márquez, and poet Gabriela Spears-Rico. Each artist distinctly expressed their reflections on La Cucaracha motif focusing on the working class+migrant culture spanning from revolutionary corridos to contemporary interpretations.
